Don Bosco School, Oxdel

The idea of opening a Don Bosco Primary School in Odxel came about after observing the success of the Mobile School Project initiated by Fr. George Quadros, the then Director of the Province Development Office (Konkan Development Society).

To begin with, classes were held next to the Odxel Chapel and in Don Bosco Villa, as there was no School building.

On April 18, 2011 the NOC was received from the Department of Education to begin the Primary School at Odxel. Classes continued to be held next to the Odxel chapel and Don Bosco Villa, as the school premises was not ready.

The new School building was formally inaugurated on 25th October 2013 at the hands of Fr. Ian Figueiredo in the Presence of Mr. Peter Vaz, with Nursery, Lower K.G., Upper K.G, Std. 1 and Std. 2. Five teachers were employed under the able leadership of Fr. Joaquim Lobo.

Fr. Arvind Severes and Fr. Avil Rodrigues were the subsequent Managers, who were instrumental in mobilizing admissions to the Pre Primary and Primary classes.

Presently, under the leadership of Fr. Jose Sequeira, the school is growing from strength to strength, with a dedicated teaching and non teaching staff of 10 and 220 students, from Nursery to Std. IV.

Objectives:

To give quality education to our students who come from the migrant community, construction sites, the shanties of Chimbel and from the neighbouring villages.
To provide an ambience for learning: well equipped classrooms, playground, audio visual facilities and toilets.
