CHILDLINE 1098 is a phone number that spells hope for millions of children across India. It is a 24-hour a day, 365 days a year, free, emergency phone service for children in need of aid and assistance. We not only respond to the emergency needs of children but also link them to relevant services for their long-term care and rehabilitation. This facility has, till date, connected with three million children across the nation, offering them care and protection.
The Don Bosco Konkan Development Society (KDS) has been appointed as the Collaborative Organization for the implementation of the Childline 1098 in South Goa, by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India. Childline India Foundation (CIF) is the Mother NGO, responsible for the running of Childline services across India. The Childline network is currently spread over 462 locations across the country. KDS is working with CIF to implement the Childline Project in South Goa.
Since 2018, the South Goa Childline Collab. has handled cases of child abuse, begging, child labour, shelter requests, missing children, nutrition, child marriage and counselling. Our office was open right through the COVID induced lock down and besides our normal services we gave food aid to a large number of families who were in dire straits due to loss of livelihoods.
