Mission Poverty Eradication (MPE)
Mission Poverty Eradication (MPE)
The Mission Poverty Eradication (MPE) project, led by the Salesians of Don Bosco in South Asia, aims to eradicate extreme and multidimensional poverty among 500,000 families over six years, with a particular focus on empowering youth as drivers of change. The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Salesians’ GC#28 mandate, prioritizing the poorest. The strategy includes scaling up existing interventions, addressing poverty in new and vulnerable contexts, and ensuring systemic transformation in the organization’s mission.
The project’s primary goal is to uplift 300,000 families from extreme poverty, defined either monetarily (under $2.15/day) or through the global Multidimensional Poverty Index. With a vision centered on dignified living standards, the initiative emphasizes evidence-based progress, stakeholder motivation, and sustained impact. It represents a region-wide, structured effort backed by measurement, innovation, and deep-rooted values.
