Women’s Day Celebration at Don Bosco School, Dabolim

Women’s Day was celebrated at Don Bosco School Dabolim with great enthusiasm! The programme, hosted by Teacher Yashwant, began with a prayer by Nursery student Bhavya Patra and a short prayer service conducted by Teacher Kim, dedicating blessings to all women. Teacher Priyanka introduced the event, highlighting the importance and contributions of women, and presented a Marathi poem she had composed for the occasion. Teacher Sneha showcased a video on famous women and the students identified their achievements. Teacher Sayeda and a group of students sang a Hindi song dedicated to women, followed by a dance performance by Classes 3 and 4, choreographed by Teacher Samidha and Teacher Diksha.

As a token of appreciation, the students presented mementoes to all the lady staff members, crafted by Teacher Natasha. The programme ended with the school anthem, the National Anthem, and a birthday song for those celebrating birthdays during the week, followed by a staff group photo.

Inculcating Scientific Temper

On National Science Day, Don Bosco Pre-Primary and Primary School, Alto-Dabolim organized a Special Assembly to celebrate scientific inquiry and innovation. The Assembly began with a morning prayer, followed by a video on the significance of Science Day. It aimed to highlight the Scientists’ contributions and promote awareness about the importance of Science in daily life.

The Pre-Primary students conducted age-appropriate science experiments in their classes. In the second half, the Primary section watched a video about Dr. C.V. Raman’s life and contributions. Students then performed a Solar System showcase and participated in a quiz. The school In-Charge addressed the importance of curiosity in science. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, inspiring students to embrace the wonders of Science in our daily lives.

Class Excursion of the Primary Section of Don Bosco School Dabolim

On 25th of February, we gathered at school and boarded the bus by 9:15 am, full of excitement. Accompanied by teachers, staff, and volunteers from Sweden, Alicia and Elsa.  We reached the Mollem Biodiversity Park in Ponda. After a warm welcome and a briefing on the park’s significance, rules, and schedule, we began our exploration. We toured various sections, including the medicinal plant garden, butterfly models and different types of trees, learning about the diverse flora and fauna. Teachers engaged students in discussions on afforestation, climate change, and conservation. After a snack break, the children enjoyed the play area, followed by lunch. Alicia and Elsa organized games that added to the fun. The day concluded with more playtime before we boarded the bus back to school.

A Day of Fun Learning!

On 21/02/25, the students of the L.K.G. and H.K.G. of the Don Bosco School, Dabolim, went on an excursion to Garca Branca Gardens, Loutolim, Goa. The excursion aimed to provide a fun learning experience for the students. The group consisted of 65 students, 4 Teachers, two support staff, and 2 School volunteers from Sweden, Elsa and Alicia who conducted various games with the students.

The journey started at 9:30 am from the school, with students and teachers gathering for attendance and a briefing before boarding the bus. The students enjoyed singing songs and admiring the scenery along the way.

Upon arrival, the group was welcomed by guides. The day’s activities included:

• Exploring the Nature Reserve

• Engaging in fun games and team-building exercises

• Taking a break for snacks and relaxation

After an exciting experience, the group departed at 12:30 pm and safely arrived at school by 1:10 pm, where parents awaited their children’s return.

Strengthening Teams through Shared Experiences 

On 19th February 2025, the staff of Don Bosco School Dabolim and Konkan Development Society (KDS) Odxel came together for a meaningful team-building day at Amã Eden Eco Farm, Cuncolim.

The serene environment, thoughtfully designed spaces, and warm hospitality provided the perfect setting to pause from our daily responsibilities and invest in strengthening our professional relationships.

Our day began with a guided tour of the farm’s beautiful premises, offering us a glimpse into sustainable living amidst nature. This was followed by a time of fellowship over a shared meal and a series of interactive activities designed to promote teamwork, collaboration, and mutual support.

We are grateful to Mr. Seby D’Silva, Mr. Wenceslaus Fernandes, and Mr. Navneet Sharma for their gracious welcome and attention to detail, ensuring a smooth and memorable experience for all participants.

This event not only provided an opportunity to unwind but also reinforced the importance of teamwork, communication, and shared purpose—values we carry into our work as we strive to create meaningful impact in our communities.

Class Excursion for the Nursery Children

On 18th February 2025, the Nursery class of Don Bosco Pre-Primary School, Alto Dabolim went on an excursion to Jogger’s Park, from 9:30 am. to 12 noon. The group of 31 students and 4 staff boarded the bus and left for the venue, with much joy and excitement!

After a group photo and placing their bags in a designated area, the children enjoyed playing on the slides and in the sandpit. They washed up and took a break for refreshments before a garden walk, learning about different flowers. After more playtime, the group returned to School by noon, having had a fun filled and educational morning.

Sports Day 2024- 2025 at Don Bosco School, Dabolim

The Don Bosco Primary School’s Sports Day, held on February 7th 2025, at V.P. Chicalim Grounds, was a vibrant event, filled with enthusiasm and joy.

The Chief Guest for the Sports Day was Mrs. Jan Bacon from the UK, who has been a benefactor and guide for our school sine many years. Her husband, Mr. Andy Bacon was present too.  The Guests of Honour were Mrs. Sanjana Kerkar, ADEI, Mormugao and the In-Charge of the Vasco Fire Department, Officer Dilip Bicholkar.

The event was opened with the a welcome to all by the school In-Charge, Tracy Fernandes followed by a Torch Run from the Nursery to Grade 4 and the lighting of the Sports Torch. The School Anthem was sung, emphasizing sportsmanship and joyful participation.

The students took part in various events, including creative drills like Taekwondo, Zumba, and Commando drills, while the Teachers performed yoga, showcasing fitness and calmness. Parent races highlighted the spirit of teamwork and enthusiasm.

A tribute of gratitude was delivered by Fr. Joel D’souza. lauding the great teamwork and sportsmanship by parents, students, and staff alike! The event concluded with the National Anthem.

CELEBRATING DON BOSCO’S FEAST AT DON BOSCO SCHOOL DABOLIM

The Feast of Don Bosco was celebrated with enthusiasm at Don Bosco School, Dabolim. The event began with a prayer by HKG students, followed by a candle lighting ceremony in honour of Saint John Bosco. A video presentation shared his life and contributions, and Teacher Samidha spoke about his values. Another video highlighted the global impact of the Salesian community.

Primary students recited Don Bosco’s quotes, and Tracy Fernandes the School In-Charge reinforced his legacy. The celebration concluded with the school and national anthems, leaving students inspired by Don Bosco’s teachings on Reason, Kindness and Faith.

Republic Day Celebrations at Don Bosco Primary School, Alto Dabolim

Don Bosco School, Alto Dabolim, celebrated the 74th Republic Day with enthusiasm and fervour. The programme commenced at 8:30 a.m. on the school campus, where students and teachers gathered in large numbers.

The celebration began with a morning prayer, followed by the unfurling of the National Flag by our School In-Charge, Mrs. Tracy Fernandes. The National Anthem and Flag song were sung with a spirit of patriotism.

The rest of the programme was conducted in the school auditorium, where Tr. Kavita gave a brief introduction about the significance of the day. Students delivered speeches in Hindi and English, followed by a patriotic dance and song. Sweets were distributed among the students.

Don Bosco Dabolim Christmas with Mr. Edgar Melo Furtado

On Wednesday, 18th of December 2024, Mr. Edgar Melo Furtado our benefactor for over 8 years, visited the school with Ms. Larissa his accountant accompanied by Mr. Domnic from KDS.

Mr. Furtado visited all the classes of the Pre-Primary sections and handed out a special Christmas treat to all the students bringing warm Christmas cheer to all the little ones!

A Christmas programme was organised by the grade 2 students under the guidance of Tr. Samidha in the school auditorium. The highlight of the show was the Fun Christmas Freeze Yoga performance by the Std 2 students.

This was followed by a vote of thanks by the School In-Charge Mrs.Tracy Fernandes. Mr. Furtado was presented with a handmade Christmas card and token of remembrance from the Don Bosco School following which he was invited to address the gathering. Mr. Furtado appreciated all the work the Management and Staff put into preparing the children and wished everyone a Joyous Christmas season.

The Primary section gathering ended with the singing of the Don Bosco School Anthem, the national anthem and the distribution of the Christmas treats among the students.

The warm spirit of giving and the joy of the little receivers was a joy to behold!
